Call Me Sentimental

November 15, 2015 By Christina E. Pilz

While tumbling through Tumblr (a bad habit that I cannot seem to rid myself of), I sometimes come across items that are useful (such as recipes), or valuable (such as the way to search for a word’s origin), and, if I’m lucky, something that reminds me what it means to be human. Some might say that it’s stupid to be so sentimental, but I say balderdash to that. And bollocks. And bullshit. It’s good to be sentimental, it keeps your tear-ducts in high, functioning order, and balances the humors.

Luckily for me, I’ve discovered that the people of Thailand make the most moving, sentimental, tear-jerking commercials I have ever seen. No lie. So whenever I’m in need of a good cry, or even a gut-wrenching sweep of human connection, I go to youtube and enter “Thai Commercial,” and then just watch whatever comes up.

Included now is one of the first Thai commercials I remember seeing, which I watched with wide eyes, as I observed how they used every cliche in the book without seeming to be in the least bit cliched. I’m sure whatever they were selling, after that commercial aired, they sold a lot of it. So now I a proud and happy to share with you the following commercial. Go ahead, be brave, and watch it to the end.

My word count for NaNo 2105 is 22, 735. I’m still behind by about 6,000 words, but if I write a little more each day I should be able to catch up by next weekend.
