Oliver & Jack & Charles Dickens Giveaway!

July 7, 2017 By Christina E. Pilz

In celebration of my Big Gay Podcast Interview, I’m having a Rafflecopter giveaway.

The interview will run on July 17th; the giveaway will run from July 17th to July 25th. When the interview airs, the link for the giveaway will become active.

Prizes will be awarded based on a random drawing (via Rafflecopter) from the names of the people who entered. You can view the prizes by scrolling through the Rafflecopter form at the bottom of this post, and, in addition, I’ve added a short description of each prize below that.

You can enter up to once a day, and there are two ways to enter:

  • This is worth two points – subscribe to my newsletter using the Rafflecopter form at the bottom of this post.
  • This is worth one point – scroll to the bottom of this post and in the comments section, leave a comment to answer the following question:

Who fell in love with who first? (Hint: There is no wrong answer!)

Was it Oliver Twist who fell in love with Jack Dawkins (aka The Artful Dodger) first? (I am perfectly sure that Oliver found Jack’s warmth and his ready smile impossible to resist!)

Or was it Jack Dawkins who fell in love with Oliver Twist first? (I think Jack would have been hard-pressed to resist the lofty allure of those cool blue eyes, not to mention the pouty mouth!)

A Rafflecopter Giveaway

Here is a description of the Prizes!

  • A lovely grey t-shirt with the cover of the frontispiece to Oliver Twist; in your size (just let me know) mailed to you. US and Canada only.
  • A lovely grey t-shirt with an Oliver Twist word cloud; in your size (just let me know) mailed to you. US and Canada only.

I think Jack fell first, for sure! He’s more matter-of-fact about feelings. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the giveaway!!

Oliver fell for Jack because of Jack’s strength and Oliver’s lack of love for so long.

I think it was Jack because Oliver was a bit of a deer in headlights and needed to be guided.

I think Jack was always smitten by Oliver and I think that dreaming of one day reuniting with his Nolly is what got him thru exile and enprisonment in Australia. It’s what kept him going those 5 years.

    Oliver first. He was needy!

What a difficult question… I think it was Oliver first, he’s much more receptive to feelings…
    Thank you for the giveaway

I feel like Oliver was the first one because Jack was all he could think about. He had analyzed every key moment of their friendship and it grew into love.

I think they fell in love at the same time. Although, maybe Oliver was a fraction of a second earlier. He always wanted some more.

I’m going with Oliver first. Thanks!

I think this is one of those moments where pinpointing it is difficult, and thus, my answer is that I think Jack was the first one to /realize/ he was in love with Oliver. Just sort of hit him one day that oh, he really loves his Nolly, huh? And just rolled with it because that’s what Jack does.

That said, who actually fell first? I’m… Tempted to think Oliver simply because Jack offered him kindness without revoking it if Oliver “didn’t fit”. Everyone else, it’s been pretty much what Oliver can do for them and if he fulfills that role, and if he doesn’t, he’s punished for it. Jack? Didn’t have such conditions related to his affection, simply gave it and took care of him, and that’s the kind of thing a starving child is going to cling to.

From my point of view Oliver Twist was the first to fall in love.
